Job Description
Summary: Plans, coordinates, and directs daily operations for the shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Embodies “The Big Rock Way” and acts as a champion of the five core values: Character, Commitment, Conservation, Creativity, and Collaboration.
  • Works with General Manager to create daily action plan for the shift to meet customer order expectations and increase productivity;
  • Communicates daily shift action plan to, and sets shift expectations for, shift leadership team;
  • Leads by providing an open communication environment where each team member’s input is encouraged and respected;
  • Develops a coaching environment with shift leadership team, and ensures that they in turn develop a coaching environment with their employees;
  • Develops a mindset of accountability with shift leadership team, and ensures that the shift leadership team holds their employees accountable for their actions;
  • Communicates and updates employees and the shift leadership team of daily problems, identifying areas that need attention to ensure the continuity of the operation;
  • Ensures employees are kept informed of conditions, trends, and important activities affecting their work areas as well as daily results, quality issues, and other business needs;
  • Maintains positive employee relationships within and between departments to drive employee engagement;
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Big Rock Sports’ safety guidelines including, but not limited to: safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment; proper use of safety devices; maintains housekeeping standards.

  • Education/Experience: Two or more years of experience managing supervisors in a high-volume distribution center or manufacturing operation where process and performance are key to meeting daily customer expectations
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with Microsoft Office software, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Certificates and Licenses: Six Sigma training preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages 5-6 subordinate Operations Supervisors who supervise approximately 100 employees in the inbound and outbound areas of the distribution center.
